San Vicente Airport, a domestic airport duly registered with the Civil Aviation authority (CAAP), officially opened in June 26, 2017.
Located just a few minutes away from the Long Beach, San Vicente Airport (also commonly referred to as San Vicente Palawan Airport) is expected to boost the tourism industry in the municipality once it becomes fully operational for bigger commercial planes like Airbus 320.
Currently, it can accommodate Category 2B aircraft, or those with wingspans between 15 meters and 24 meters. San Vicente Palawan Airport is now services flights of propeller-type planes flying the routes:
- Puerto Princesa to San Vicente and vice versa, operated by Airjuan
- Coron (Busuanga) to San Vicente and vice versa, also operated by Airjuan
San Vicente Airport, which is now on the the last phase of construction, with control tower, radio & communication systems and drainage system still needs to be put in place.
The completion of the airport was highly awaited by many investors as the dramatic improvement in tourism industry in San Vicente also depends upon the transportation systems. Many investors are planning to develop their resorts/hotels once the airport becomes fully operational, servicing bigger planes that will fly the route Manila to San Vicente and vice versa.
The airport is planned to ultimately operate as a regional airport servicing flights to & from select neighboring Asian countries.
