Nestled in the Northwestern coast of the main island of Palawan, in the Philippines, San Vicente is bounded by the West Philippine Sea in the West, the Municipality of Taytay in the North, the Municipality of Roxas in the East and City of Puerto Princesa in the Southwest. San Vicente is strategically located between Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, which is globally renowned as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, and El Nido, which is internationally famous as one of the world’s Beast Beaches.
The strategic location of San Vicente contributes to its rising tourism industry which can be primarily attributed to its amazing tourist attractions. It is slowly emerging to become one of the top tourist destinations in the country. San Vicente Palawan is home to the famous Port Barton which is popular for laid back vacations and colorful sunset views. It is also home to the country’s longest stretch of white sand beach – the Long Beach – which is a Flagship Tourism Enterprise Zone (Flagship TEZ).
Having been identified as a Flagship TEZ by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), San Vicente is a beneficiary to the government spending on tourism & infrastructure development. Its Long Beach is now flooded by many investors who are into hotel, real estate and resort development. Some of the major investors in San Vicente includes Century Properties, Anscor, Big Foot Inc. and Discovery Shores. There are also big players who do not want to be identified at the moment.
The Municipality of San Vicente is around 186 kilometers away from the capital city of Palawan, Puerto Princesa. San Vicente can be reached in four (4) to five (5) hours by land travel, while it will only take less than an hour by air, from Puerto Princesa City.
San Vicente Palawan Airport already opened for small aircraft and is expected to be able to cater big planes, like Airbus 320, by the first quarter of 2018. Once the airport becomes fully operational, San Vicente will just be an hour and fifteen minutes away from Manila by domestic commercial planes.
While the villages or barangays of San Vicente is headed by energetic and active Barangay Captains, San Vicente Palawan is headed by Hon. Maria Carmela Alvarez, a very dynamic, result-oriented and young achiever Municipal Mayor. Mayor Pie, as the local constituents fondly call her, is the youngest elected female Municipal Mayor in the history of the Philippines. She also also served as one of the Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum.
